John Y. Brown Jr. is one of America’s foremost entrepreneurs.

In 2009, Brown was recognized by the prestigious Harvard Business School as one of the “Great American Business Leaders of the 20th Century.” Harvard spent over eight years compiling a list of honorees in an effort to identify and chronicle the lives of 20th century men and women whose business leadership shaped the ways people live, work and interact. He has also recognized as “Entrepreneur of the Year” by the National Franchise Association.

At the age of 29, with his partner Jack C. Massey of Nashville, Tennessee, purchased Kentucky Fried Chicken Corporation from its founder Colonel Harland Sanders for two-million dollars. From 1964 through 1971, Brown established a worldwide reputation as a businessman and entrepreneur when he built the company into the world’s largest food service company by establishing 3500 KFC restaurants. He is credited with building the “Colonel” into the world’s most recognized personal brand. After going public the company was sold for $285 Million to Hublein Inc. Brown is recognized with launching the dynamic growth of the fast food industry, along with Ray Kroc.

Always challenging the traditional methods of doing business, Brown has opened over 4,000 franchise units nationally and internationally while maintaining an honorable reputation of never having litigated an issue with a franchisee. He is known industry-wide as the “Franchise Leader.”

Always remaining current, Brown has developed several restaurant from start-up stage. One of his talents is his ability to recognize "successful concepts" within the industry. Brown is currently CEO of a company franchising "ZAZA’s Fine Salad and Wood Fired Pizza," a successful restaurant in Little Rock, AK.

Governor Brown is renowned as one of America’s foremost entrepreneurs; he has always challenged the traditional methods of doing business. He continuously looks to explore opportunities in paths that have yet to be traveled. Brown’s focus has been in the food industry and franchising.
